Artist Biography Junn Roca
(b. 1948)
Junn Roca has been a professional artist for more than forty years.
Influenced by his father, Roca began his career in his native
Philippines at the age of twenty. Roca came to the United States in
1979, and soon began a long and successful career in the animation
industry. In 1995, he was nominated for an Emmy award for Where
IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SAN DIEGO? In 1997, he received an
EMMY for his contribution to Steven Spielberg’s ANIMANIACS, and
Again in 1998, he was honored with an EMMY for PINKY AND THE
BRAIN. Although, highly successful in the field of animation, Roca has
returned to his first true passion, fine art painting. He is a recipient of numerous
awards, including the Prestigious GRANVILLE REDMOND PURCHASE
PRIZE at the SALON d’ AUTOMNE in 2002, SECOND PLACE &
HONORABLE MENTION at the BOWERS MUSEUM Annual Juried
Plein Air Exhibition in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Roca’s urban scene painting
“CALLEJON SANTEE, LA Garment District) received the AWARD of
EXCELLENCE at the OIL PAINTERS OF AMERICA NATIONAL
JURIED EXHIBIT in 2004. His “CANDLE VENDORS” painting received
the URBAN LIFESCAPES AWARD at the CALIFORNIA ART CLUB
95th GOLD MEDAL JURIED EXHIBIT held at the Pasadena Museum of
California Art. Junn Roca is a Signature Artist Member of the Prestigious
California Art Club and Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America.
